We are talking about the cover half way up the bell housing on the left side as viewed from sitting in the seat? Mine is round with spring clips that hold it in.
If your tractor has been apart before, I believe that the bracket and sleeve that support the bearing can be installed backward with the zerk fitting facing the wrong way.
