It wasn't a poor design, in fact it was IH's answer to the 8N (or whatever the successor to the 8N was) and the Ferguson 20 and 30. I have never driven one, but as others say the steering may have been the weak point. However, I have heard similar complaints for the H/M equipped with a loader and WFE, probably the reason aftermarket power steering was available. My suggested price didn't have much to do with the actual model, just the condition, and that you won't know what you have until you get it torn down. It is, after all, what amounts to an H utility. It can become a good tractor, if you are willing to put the money into it. I would like to have one, but would prefer it be in running condition before I buy it.
