The degree of angle on that setback axle put far to much weight on front axle. There is little wonder it had steering problems. Many of the loaders put on 300Us were much too heavy, making the problem even worse. The 300 turned out to be quite a gas hog as well. Good or bad hard to say, one thing it did here in Canada at least was drive the farmer to diesel on his next tractor purchase.

Hindsight is always quite valuable, but I believe had IH come out with a Utility version of both 200 and 300 in 1954, instead of trying to make the 300 same dimension in wheel base as an 8N, they would have had far greater success.
