Steve is 100% correct about a good dozer man being able to finish a big job in less time, thereby costing you less in the long run than a cheap rate from an inexperienced man. They tell me dozer work is "all in the seat". I looked up some of the paper work and drawings on my pond...It's 140' across the dam, 9' water depth to the overflow, 12' to the spillway, 14' to the top of the dam. The tail of the pond runs back 300' from the the dam. Total cost, including survey, overflow, permits, inspections, tight at $3K. The NRD did a 2/3 cost share so I got a check from them for $2K. I paid my $1k plus another $1K for extra fill dirt to make the top of the dam wide enough for the driveway, and grader work to build 600' of driveway from the road, cross the dam, and up the hill past the house site to the horse barn. Add $500 for crushed rock and "Voila!"...Pond & Driveway.
