Hi Don, The crankcase capacity on the 140 should be around 5 quarts. If it has the old petcocks it should be between the top and lower petcock.
You do not want to overfill. For heavy usage I would keep it at the top petcock.

There's been a lot of discussion on here about which oil to use in these tractors. I would use a multi-duty during the winter and SAE30 in the warm months. I would stick with a
name brand oil. I use either Quaker State or Mobil since they're available in my area. Hal
PS: Don't forget to change the filter too.
