Whoda thunk it. After at least the several years I've had it, more than a year of which time it was lying over in the corner, and likely, by the look of the little bit of nasty sludge that dripped out the first time I opened the drain, some years before that, (how's this for a run-on sentence, Mrs. Marvin?) I hooked it back up today and it works. At least, it works some. I put the connecting shaft back on, freed up the fill cap, put a gallon or so of hydraulic oil in, started the H and pulled back the lever. Then I remembered that when I put the unit back in a couple years ago I didn't bother to get the three pipes tight, figured I'd be taking it back out. Shut the H back down, unscrewed the three pipes and put them back tight with some teflon tape, cleaned up the mess and tried again. I can tell it's pumping, hear the load when I pull back - no leaks. Now I've got to borrow a gauge from work to see how well it's doing. Wm
