The lever shift 9 speed had a large nut on the side of the housing that held the linkage to the housing,, it it out in the open, and looks out of place,,, thats one way,,, the other was a cable shift, that used a long cable that went into the upper left hand corner of the transmission, where it bolts on to the rear end,, Only other way is to remove the belt pulley, or the cover, and look down at the lower shaft of the tranny you can see that the unit towards the main input shaft is alot larger. I have a lever shift 9 speed for parts if you need a picture of what it looks like! Hope this helps a bit,, ChadS
