Hi Jack, You need a good shop manual to show you the correct procedure for servicing those brakes. Contact Christian that has posted on here to your post. He may have the solution to your brake problems. Those brakes may be worn down to the rivets and when you have metal to metal your brakes are going to be weak and will take more effort to stop the tractor. Call your nearest IH dealer and have them fax or mail you a zerox copy of the 674 brake overhaul. I have a 1981 car that has very poor brakes. It's brakes were under designed. I've had pickup trucks that had better brakes. I've changed the brake pads numerous times. I'm surprised that Ford never recalled these cars for that problem. The rotors were too small for this car's weight and it should've had dual piston caliphers installed. They aren't even available to retro fit it. Good Luck, Hal

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
