Hi Guys, Went into town yesterday and was talking to the local "Red Mech" who is overhauling my 966. We got to talking compression ratios and the topic wandered around to my 686 with the 310 and how I'm always complaining about the fact that it smokes when cold and starts hard at lower temps. Anyway, he tells me, as you fellas did, that the problem has to do with their lower compression ratios. Says he has a supplier who makes 17:1 compression pistons for both the 310 and the 358 and after these stouter pistons are installed in these engines, that the german engines will start and run just like an american diesel. Dunno, when he gets my 966 done, I'm thinking seriously of having him dance thru my 310? Allan
