I need some help installing a tachometer on a 560 gas. My dad had a gas engine put into a 560 that originally had a diesel engine (the gas is much easier to start for a chore tractor in winter and has less fumes). Anyway, ever since the change, the tachometer hasn't worked (this was done 20+ years ago). I would like to put one on it, but I can't figure out how to hook the tach cable up to the distributor. I appears from the parts book that the cable should screw into the stem below the distributor. There what appears to be a tube perpendicular to the stem that would logically be the place to attach the cable, but there is no hole, it is solid all the way around this area. Could there be a reason why there is no place to install the cable? Could it have come off another model? I hope to be able to do all this without messing up the timing. Any guidance or direction would be appreciated.
