Hi John N...Before I could weld thick stock, I also needed to make that plow connecting rod. What I did was use 1 1/4 pipe and flatten a section at each end so that I could connect the "pipe" to the hydraulic rockshaft and the pivoting lift arm. Doesn't look real good, but it has worked for a number of years that way. But, if you are missing the pivoting lift arm (it attaches to the tractor and pivots so as to transfer the back/forth motion of the rockshaft to a up/down motion) then I don't think you can make the plow go up and down with either a chain or a rigid rod/pipe. If you have the pivoting lift arm I guess it wouldn't hurt to carefully try using the plow with a chain. Pete
