It's just not a good idea to use something as volatile as gasoline as a cleaning solvent. One tiny spark from anything (and that includes static electricity) can cause an explosion of the vapors.
I would also recommend against MEK for the same reason. Kerosene, Mineral Spirits or Diesel and Gunk are the ones I would recommend. Varsol is good too, but expensive by comparison. Phil
