Hi Kelly,
The way I understand it is TDC compression stroke ,Check the pointer on the front to see if its in line with the pully then put the distributor so its just starting to go on #1 plug on the dist cap then install distributor gear so it lines up with mount then mesh it with the distributor and put her on then time it.
