Tanner, put your plug about 1 or 2 mm. from the block or a bare spot on the frame and you should see a hot blue spark jump the gap. If not then pull the coil wire from the cap and check for spark there in the same way. Don't get bit! As far as the cap moveing this does not sound right to me. Not sure what is going on there. It will take someone smarter than me to help with that.
