Jim: I agree with the rest, got to be something wrong with that heater. If that is the factory unit and you plug it in overnight should fire up that 310 even at -40F. The tank heaters are even better in that you only need to plug them in about 1 to 2 hours before use. I had three of the tank heaters on 560, 656 and John Deere and one factory on a 1066. The down side of the tank heaters is they will rust and bingo you loose all your anti-freeze some morning. Had that one happen, but heater was about 15 years old, so not a serious problem.
