Warren - Aside that a couple large and very heavy parts (lower bolster and bolster pivot shaft) that must be removed to replace the seal, it's not a bad job. A new seal and upper bushing will cost about $30 or so. However assuming the gearbox is leaking heavy gear oil (that's the lube called for in the geabox), an easier solution is to remove what oil is left then pack the box with good quality gun grease. The grease will not leak out thru the pivot shaft seal, and it will lube the steering worm and gear as well as 80W-90 or #140 gear oil. I did this to both of mine several years ago. Both still steer fine and neither has leaked a drop of grease.
