560 engine replacement

Good morning.
I found a 560, Gas, WFE, with a disassembled motor. Supposed the block is cracked. I don't think I can afford a diesel to replace it right now, so what size gas engine should I be looking for that would bolt right up? Also, what prices are they bringing?
The guy who has the tractor is asking $1200 for it, and he never had it running so he doesn't know anything else about the tractor (torque, hydraulics, etc). It does have a 3-point. What would be a good offer for the tractor?
