Thanks for the advice, guys. Unfortunately once the thing is back together enough to run the engine-to get hydraulic pressure - you can't get a wrench on the flare nuts! Steering, throttle, gas tank, all tin work have to come off. So I guess I need to arrange to have new pipe/connectors before I disassemble it again. If it was easier to get into I would try some of the recommended fixes. But will remember them for future reference. Thanks Dick Davis
