Use a 6 Volt charger. Match the polarity of the charger clips to the BATTERY TERMINAL MARKINGS. It is not necessary to disconnect the battery. I have seen a couple of battery chargers (and I own one), that have the metal case of the charger connected to the (BLACK) (-) charging lead, and if the metal case of such a charger touches the frame of a (+) ground tractor, there will be a short, so just to be SAFE when charging a (+) ground machine, I always set the charger on the floor, or at least NOT on the machine being charged!
