I was always a JD guy as my dad worked for them for 28 years. I ran several Ms for a guy but had limited mechanical knowledge on them. A few years ago a guy told me he wanted to sell his old M, thought it was a Super. It was stuck, bad tires etc but had after market 3 point. Wasn't especially interested until he said he'd sell for $100. Noticed some strange things about it also, live PTO and extra lever on left side. Was a SMTA. After putting in pistons and liners, engine bearings, rebuilt TA, rear wheels and tires, camshaft and some other stuff is now a great tractor. Used it without the TA for a couple years but glad I rebuilt it is a really handy feature. Would still like to have wide front and PS. Good luck on yours, what is it needing? Got a lot of help on mine from the board here. Don't know that I had ever noticed any of the SMTAs around here either but they look a lot like an M.
