Hello, I'd like to install an internally-regulated alternator to replace the generator on my B414 diesel. I searched the archives and I think I got most of the info I need. However, I'd like to pass it by you guys and gals to make sure. Since the B414 already has a 12 volt system, I need to switch the electrical system to a negative ground. It's a diesel, so it appears that I only need to change the wiring at the ammeter (and battery of course!) And I'll need to find a new power source for the light switch since the old regulator won't be used. Mounting the alternator will require a bit of fabrication and perhaps a pulley change. I have the info on the wiring for both the 3 wire and 1 wire alternators. I am leaning towards the one wire variety. Can it be that simple or am I missing something? Has anyone done this on the 414 and able to provide any tips?
