The shift pattern on the H looks like this: R-2-4 ----- 1-3-5 If the shifter won't go into 5th, all the way to the right and pulled back, it could be, as Ray suggested, that the lockout screw is in place. That feature was mostly used for tractors with steel wheels rather than rubber tires. If the shifter seems to go into the 5th gear position but the tractor doesn't move that's a different problem; either the shifter forks need work or, more likely, the teeth on the 5th gear are gone. This gear is different from the others in that it slides over a splined shaft rather than meshing teeth on the outside of the gear.(Does that make sense?) I think you can at least see if the gear is moving as it should by pulling off the belt pulley, but I wouldn't swear to it. Good luck, and let us know what you find, ok? Wm
