Hi RAS, Sure don't wanna start an argument that's for sure and I probably used the wrong term. I should have said “piggyback pump” instead of “rear pump”. But all in all, the 544, 656, 666, 686, Hydro 70 and Hydro 86 all used the same basic hydraulic system with a few flow-rate variants and differing pump manufactures thrown in over the years. In the 656, as well as these other tractors, the power steering and the auxiliary remotes are handled by the front main pump with a priority flow of 3.5 gallons going to the steering. The "piggyback" pump is the "hitch" pump. Tractors shipped without a hydraulic hitch just had a plate bolted to the main pump in place of that piggyback pump. Allan
