Bill: While I've never gone modern on the offsets, I believe 140 was changed to 12 volt with an alternator sometime before end of production in 1979. With that came a solenoid and key starting. Very likely they had a safety starting switch on clutch by then. A 4 post ROPS canopy was also available, I think manditory in some states and provinces. I know in my home province of NS, all new tractors sold had to hsve ROPS at some point. I do forget the exact date, but late 70s would be close.
