For what it's worth. I have a '41 H serial #70595 starter switch is mounted in the gas tank support bracket. Its been that way since my dad bought it new. No hole or bolt in the steering support tube. I took the current seat cover off to see if there were any traces of any original cover. I didn't see any old canvas just bare metal. The rim was just a flat horizontal flange around the sides and back. No rolled edge. Oh, and this tractor does have the seat that flips backward.
