CNKS, I have seen both red and black radiators, and my thoughts are the same as yours in that if they were mounted on the tractor before it went through the paint process than they were painted red with the rest of the tractor, but some may have been mounted after the rest of the tractor was painted and left black as they came from the radiator plant of source. I thought I"d be cute and paint the radiator of my 40 A black, and had a bang up paint job on it only to discover that it wasnt as good an idea as I thought since if the hood and grill do not butt up against each other exactly, it leaves a black background which is very visable after the hood and grill are mounted. I ended up removing the radiator and masking most of it off and painting the mounting surfaces red. Next time, I"ll simply mask off the fins and paint the entire radiator red and not try to create a problem. As to painting the fins, someone told me that a very thin mixture of flat black (almost ink consistency) would make the fins more eye appealing without compromising the effectiveness or function of the fins.
