I think you're on the right track here. The "M" is a big, tall tractor with a lot of power and weight for its time. That time was more than 50 years ago now. They didn't have ROPS back then. A lot of flipovers happen when people hook up to higher points on the tractor than the drawbar. Like a chain up around the axle or hooked to a raised 32-point hitch. Others happen when pulling where the tractor is not level, or not pulling in a straight line.

The "M" also has one peculiarity with its drawbar. The brackets that go around the axle are not symmetrical. Putting them on one way leaves the drawbar about an inch higher than the other way. If you are concerned about this, be sure to put the brackets in the lower position.
