I need some help from you folks out there..... I am going to have to replace the starter gear and clutch in my 140..I need some advice on splitting the case..First, I need to remove the gas tank, then the hydraulic lines..and then finally the bolts that hold the front and back halfs together... Now the big question is this...how do you keep the front from tipping over to the side since it is just pinned to the front axle..?? I see in an owners manual where they use wood blocks...but what if the engine tips a litle and gets out of line so it can't be bolted back together...one of my friends at work said to use a cherry picker... Is it safe just to jack it up from underneath...? (Front and rear) What do you think fella's... By the way, what else do I have to do before I split the case..did I overlook anything..What do I need to replace besides the clutch..how about the pilot or throw out bearing...prewssure plate, ..? etc.... Gee......
