All the physics lessons aside, the most important thing is that if the tractor does not start right off, FIX THE PROBLEM! The 6-volt starter will spin the bejeezus out of the engine, and last for as long as you'll need it if you don't abuse it. Learn to use the choke, and NEVER crank for more than 2 seconds.
