It sounds like it is trying to run. Set the timing back to the mark and when it is just put-put-putting along pull the choke out half an inch and see it it helps. If it helps, the motor is starving for fuel. If it makes it worse, it is flooding. Try it with the throttle a little farther open or a closed. It is also possible that it is just running on one cylinder. Try taking the plugs out and heating them up on the gas stove (or use a propane torch). Put them back in while they are still hot and try it again.
