I don't know if this has anything to do with your problem or not but about 40 years ago my dads H did the same thing and dad wanted to know what I had done to it. The first he asked was whether or not I had checked the oil level recently, which I had done, then he wanted to know if I had added any oil, which I also had done. I told him I had added two quarts, just like I did for the 3020 John Deere when it was low. Adding two quarts to an H that is only one quart low will result in oil being spit out the exhaust, a lesson learned quite well.
