Make sure the primer cups are sealing good or they are capped. I once bought a rough running regular from a fellow that had gone through the engine and sold it out of frustration. I brought it home and I couldn't figure that thing out for a day or two until I noticed the primers were missing. Plugged those holes and I had a dandy of a Regular.
