Paul , I have a 2001 loader on an International 504 utility model tractor. My loader operator's manual shows mounting brackets are the same for I-340 and I-504. The loader subframe attaches to mounting brackets which are bolted to tractor frame at the front, just beneath the sheet metal on each side of the radiator. The rear of the subframe is attached ( clamped ) to the rear axle. The front mounting brackets used on a Farmall 400 are entirely different from those used on I-340. Also the rear of the subframe is built differently. It is obvious to me that a 2001 loader on a F-400 will not transfer to your I-340 without modifying the rear subframe and acquiring ( or building )the proper front mounting brackets. From your descriptions of what the guy has , I do not think it is a 2001. I am willing to e-mail you pages from my operator's manual. Reply to this post and show e-mail address if interested.
