I used exactly the same system as MagMan on every car/truck engine I overhauled and it works great. Vaseline is a petroleum product (It used to be called petroleum jelly) so it dissolves in engine oil. Can't beat STP on cams & bearings either Just stuff the pump full, much easier than trying to turn the pump with a drill. To keep from losing the vaseline just don't turn the engine over a lot by hand unless the pan is full of oil.
