MJD....thanks for sharing such a personal letter with all of us. All to often the only thing we hear form war are the statistics. Your son worries about the same thing I worry about, but his worry is so much more personal because of his proximity to death. To many people with there "supprt our troops" decal (made in china) don't even stop to think of the personal side of war. Recently I was stuck in the Philadelphia airport because of a snowstorm. 7 soldiers fresh from Iraq were stuck with us. They looked tired and miserable. My dad who was with me walked up to one and said "thanks for all you do". Even through the weary well traveled, hardened faces, you could see the smile of pride. Take Care Steve
