There are many things that can cause the problems you're describing. I highly recommend getting an I&T manual for your 340. They are more than "better than nothing', in fact, they are quite thorough--at least the one is for the 460/560 is with respect to the hydraulic system. Start with the basics: does it have oil? Is the filter plugged? Is the pump shot? Is the pump not turning at all due to a sheared drive key? Beyond this, you'll need more guidance, and the I&T manual is valuable here. I believe the 340 is similar to the 460 in how the hydraulics work. On our web site we have a fairly thorough repair write up on fixing our 460's hydraulics. The methods we used and what we saw should be roughly the same for the 340.
