Don't follow what you said about hand-working the lights etc, etc. I too use acrylic urethane, after completely stripping the tractor of everything that will come off. I paint all parts separately with acrylic urethane, with the possible exception of some small parts that I use unhardened acrylic enamel on, simply because I don't want to mess with my supplied air system. Color matches perfectly (within the limits of the mixing ability of my paint supplier).
