I had the same problem on my Super C. The (original) gas cap was loose and did not seal. I got a new seal at my local IH dealer and it solved the problem. Since then, we have replaced the seals in an H and an A. Both these tractors had the identical problem. The new seals work great and the price is right too. Just pry out the old seal, and put in the new. It's simple.
