The PTO setup on the 706 is independent of the main clutch. It has its own hydraulic clutch. Others mentioned that the brakes may be worn out. We rebuilt the PTO clutch on out 706 and it wasn't a bad job. You'll have to drain the transmission/hydraulic oil down past the level of the PTO housing to avoid a large oil mess. The PTO unit is heavy and bulky, so a second set of hands will be helpful when removing and re-installing it. Also, it is possible that your PTO shutoff problem is caused by the control linkage being out of adjustment. The adjustment is located where the linkage goes into the PTO housing. Maybe someone else can provide some info on how to distinguish between worn PTO brakes and linkage misadjustment. Good Luck, PA Steve
