I have a 1940 TD-9 and almost the same thing happened to me. After using it for a few hours one day, the RPM's all of a sudden just took off! It had to be turning 2,500 - 3,000 RPM !!!!! I couldn't shut her down no matter what I did. I tried to cut off the air supply.....no good. Shut the fuel line off, but these things are so efficient, that wasn't gonna stop right away either. Long story short, I finally got her stopped (not before throwing a track trying to baby her back to the barn). Now my question is what happened and how do I go about fixing it? I had been adding a qt of transmission fluid to the last two tankfuls (per this forum) to keep the injector pump well lubricated and that seemed to work fine. I didn't add any to this tank. Is there a connection here? This uses a Bosch pump, not an IH pump. Would a conversion to a IH pump be a simple swap or a major process? I am honestly afraid to start her up again. I am open to any suggestions. Thanks alot, guys.
