A minister had noticed one member of his congregation looking particularly depressed. Formerly a very happy man, he started to appear down and out on Sunday mornings, and as time passed, he continued to look worse and worse. Finally, the minister summoned the man into his study one Sunday morning after church was over, and asked him how things were going. “Things have been just awful lately for me,” the man said. “My business is going down hill, and as I spend more and more time at the office trying to get it straightened out, my family is suffering. My wife and kids resent me because I spend so much time at work, but I just don’t know what to do. Every month we have to get by on less and less. I just don’t know what I’m going to do.” The minister said, “My son, the answer to all life’s problems can be found in the Bible. When you get home today, I want you to pray to the Lord for guidance to help you out of your situation. Then, pick up your Bible, and hold it in your hands. Close your eyes, open the book, and place your finger on the page that it falls open to. Open your eyes, and the two words immediately above your finger will be the solution to your problems.” So the man did as he was told, and after several months, he started to look better. His health and happiness returned, he started to wear better-looking clothes, and he began to give more to the church. One Sunday, the minister asked him what had happened. The man said, “Oh, Reverend, your suggestion worked wonders for me. I did exactly what you said. I closed my eyes, opened my Bible, put my finger down on the page, and right there above my finger, were the two words that were the answer to all my problems.” The minister said, “That’s wonderful! What were the two words?” The man replied, “Chapter 11.”
