My Super H has a fixed 3rd brush. So somewhere in time, IH dropped the adjustable 3rd brush even on mag equipped tractors and went to voltage regulation. In my C operators manual, the cutout relay/adjustable 3rd brush is mentioned in the mag section, the voltage regulator in the battery ignition section. My C (battery ignition) has a rebuilt generator (no delco tag), so even if it came with a fixed 3rd brush, it was replaced by an adjustable 3rd brush generator -- seems the adjustable 3rd brush would be easier to adjust than the voltage regulator. Would still like to see an answer to Riverbend's question, as I have considered that type battery, but haven't wanted to cough up the money.
