If you are only getting slight grind when putting tractor ib gear try pushing clutch in pulling liftall handle back and waiting couple of seconds before putting in gear. My Dad wore out several new Hs and Ms and he habitualy always did this before putting tractor in gear and yes they do wear out with the best of care if you put 2,000 hours a year for a few years on them.
