Believe it or not, I'm actually a police officer/detective in real life and play with old iron as a hobby (Big stress reliever). I think a serial number post would be a good idea. However, to really help the police agencies locate you stolen tractor, have the serial number wrote down. The agency will put the serial number in a national computer system (LEADS). Any officer that checks the serial number of the tractor will then know that it is stolen. You would be surprised how many people do not know their serial numbers. When I buy something of value it almost always comes with a manual. Write the serial number down in that manual and store it in your office. Bad guys never seem to steal manuals and books ;)
