I ran into similar problems recently first with my Minnie Mo U, then with my old Craftsman snowblower. Discovered on both of them the carb floats had developed pinhole leaks that let gasoline get inside ‘em. Thus even though the float heights were correctly set, the gas inside caused the floats to float too low in the bowl and the carburetors to leak profusely. Drying out the floats and patching the pinholes with JB Weld cured the problem on both.

Take the float off and shake it. If you hear any liquid sloshing inside, you found the problem.
