According to my service manual for the MD, the starting valve clearance is supposed to be 60 to 80 thousands (.060-.080) The intake and exhaust valves are .017, Specifications on the injectors says they open at 700 psi. Thus you must have at least 700 psi in the lines to the injectors for them to work.
