The pressure port on the pump uses the small hose. The Lift-all lever on the reservoir has to be in the rear position to get hydraulic power. I think that you will find that the lever is near or slightly past verticle when hydraulic power is available. When the pressure reaches a pre-determined level (don't know what it is) the lever will snap forward and shut off the pressure. It causes a short circuit inside the control valve which is located inside the reservoir. Look carefully below the bottom of the lever. There is a triangular piece of sheet metal about 1.25" long that is riveted to the reservoir. That piece can be rotated to restrain the lever and cause it to remain in the rear position. Unless you have an operator's manual or grew up with SMTAs, you might never figure out what that little rotating key does. If you are running aux valves, the Lift-all lever can be locked in the rear position permanently. I am not inclined to do this unless I sm using the hydraulics alot.
