Basically, no. Serial suffixes tell the type of clutch, what fuel the engine was designed to run on, type of pistons (high or standard altitude), etc. Suffixes will also tell whether or not there is independent PTO or TA on certain tractors, gpm of hydraulic pumps, etc, but generally not optional equipment, mostly meaning anything that could be removed or added later. In other words the suffixes are generally for internal parts. Guy Fay's International Harvester Tractor Data Book has a list of serial suffixes.
