Even with the fuel shut-off valve closed, I'd grown accustomed to having to pull the air cleaner pipe off the end of the carb and letting the pool of gas that had formed there run out before I went to start the tractor. I figured I'd have to pull the carb apart (again) to fix it. Saw a post about the float sticking and followed the advice to just give the carb bowl some raps with the handle end of a large screwdriver. I did that once in November and have used the tractor several times since pushing snow and the gas-pooling has _never_ reappeared. I still always close the fuel shut-off valve but I guess just dislodging that float once from whatever it was hung up on did it. Love those easy fixes. Thanks to whoever posted that advice.
