Dennis - The transition to Stage 2 was at s/n 19234. However both scenarios you propose for yours (factory inventory upgrade or a dealer conversion) make sense.

Another Stage 1/Stage 2 spotting feature, presuming there’s no belly pump: Remove clutch housing cover from the underside of the torque tube (the casting that would be the belly pump housing if the tractor had a belly pump) and peek up inside.

If on the front of the transmission there’s a countershaft extension poking thru the countershaft bearing retainer (provided to drive a belly pump) the transmission was built as a Stage 1. However if you find a blind bearing retainer cap there it’s a Stage 2.
